Some of you may have noticed some changes taking place at the UOIT Faculty Association (UOITFA). Our Executive Assistant, Denise Martins, has gone on pregnancy/parental leave as Denise and her partner Drew welcomed their first child, Charlie Celia Martins, into the world on October 12th 2018. The Faculty Association is thrilled for Denise and wish her all the best during her leave and we are all very excited to meet the newest addition to the UOITFA community!
While we are sad to lose Denise for the upcoming year as she embarks on her new journey into motherhood, we are pleased to introduce a new face at the Faculty Association her replacement Chelsea Bauer. Chelsea will be fulfilling the duties of the Executive Assistant until Denise returns from her leave.
Chelsea Bauer will be joining us from Local 3903 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the academic local that represents sessional and contract faculty, teaching assistants and graduate assistants at York University, where she was also pursuing a doctoral degree in Canadian Labour history. Chelsea’s background in academic union activism includes a breadth of bargaining experience and member mobilization which will certainly be helpful in the upcoming year!
